Dear Brunette Approaching 40,

This doesn't sound like a mid-life crisis at all, but rather a very good excuse to re-vamp your entire look, starting from the head down.
Good for you! Please tell us how it goes. As a fellow Mother-of-two-and-hurtling-towards-Forty I am eager to see what life beyond peroxide looks like, because surely I will be venturing that way myself pretty soon.

x Love, Heidi
PS. Madonna is the only woman I know who is a)older than us AND b) looks fantastic with an inch of dark roots showing. The rest of us really should not be going there.

Maybe not a Prada handbag this time as you just got a new 'Lie down I think I Love You' bag! But I'm sure I can stretch to a few goodie bags from the catwalk shows.

Comment on High Waisted Trousers - A Great Return by Heidi

I'm liking this high-waisted look, especially with your nostaligic references to the 80s. But sadly, as a 20 week + pregnant person, I no longer have a waist and am unable to see my pelvis either, for that matter, so this look isn't going to be mine for some time to come (if ever!). I may salvage the situation with the 'Get the look' long and front ruffled cardigan and my existing loose-waisted trousers. If the weather turns cold is it too much to team this with some leg warmers, just for old times sake? Nah, only kidding.

Have you considered buying her a tattoo? You mentioned that your mother in law appreciated animal prints, so about something permanently patterned on to her own skin? Might be just the type of quirky gift that a woman with few obvious needs might enjoy. And who knows? There might be the chance of aforementioned handsome man administering the treatment. Perfect!

Have considered the gift for mother-in-law blog and wondered whether you had considered a special treat of massage or some such other lovely indulgent thing. As I am sure you will all women love to be pampered. Of course this could be as part of preparation for date with suitably tasty man!!

I have a tip that might help! I split my wadrobe into two seasons Summer and Winter. I then wash, Iron, dry clean and pack into a large suitcase the season not in use. Then place in attic. This clears a lot of space to buy more!!
