Everyone has their absolute fave piece in their wardrobe. A piece that goes wherever you go, follows you through romances and break-ups, births, deaths and even marriages. You’d never be parted with, no matter how tatty it got.

This coveted position is only held by one or two items in our wardrobes at any one time, and a new spot doesn’t become vacant for years due to their staying power. The position can be earned through the piece’s comfort factor, glam factor or even memory-lane-factor. For example one of mine is a huge, old Aran  jumper belonging to my late grandfather. Any hug, lesson or telling off I got from him – it was this jumper he was wearing, and whenever I wear it I remember him and feel more like me.

My other position became vacant recently when I lost my favourite jacket on a train. After a suitable time in mourning, I have managed to replace it.  No- scratch that last remark – it’s as irreplaceable as a family pet… let’s say I have a new friend. This piece is a fab jersey fitted jacket in navy from European Culture. Who’d have thought I’d fill this vacancy with a new piece from work?! It’s so me, so comfy, a little smart, and as easy to wear as it gets – it’s a forever piece (just as long as I avoid trains for a while!)
