What To Wear This Spring
It’s that time again to reveal what we’ll all be wearing next season. Last season was so full of different looks and trends to suit all shapes and sizes that we wondered how wearable the new looks would be….but we breathed a sigh of relief. The fitted silhouette look is staying around girls, so keep hold of your pencil skirts and high waisted trousers. Make sure your white shirt is still handy but keep an eye out for a cute puff sleeved Summer version to add to your collection. Another huge trend for Autumn/Winter was the colour purple-again, don’t throw your violets and lilacs away-it’s here to stay. Whether you want fitted and flattering smart chic or floaty and delicate pretty fabrics you will find it all in Spring/Summer key trends. We’ve picked a handful to help you get ready for the new season.
PAINTED PRINTS
Prepare yourselves for t-shirts and dresses in bold artistic effect prints-splodges, sprays and brush strokes in every colour. This even extends to floaty evening gowns as seen at Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana. Keep hair and make-up understated to carry off this look and you can wear the more experimental pieces in metallics, organza and nets.
Coming soon to Diva: Diesel t-shirts, Firetrap prints.
SAFARI
Belted jackets, fitted and cinched in at the waist over crisp white or khaki shorts will be a huge look this Summer. Get your fake tan out ladies, it won’t work with pale skin! Chiffon and delicate fabrics will update this look-don’t go for anything too heavy as softness is key. Versace teamed white and beige for a sharp look whilst at Donna Karen coffees and terracottas were big-whatever you go for, keep it neutral, clinch in the waist and show off those pins!
Coming soon to Diva: Firetrap tops and jumpsuit, Thomas Burberry skirts and jackets.
PALE DENIM
Denim for Spring/Summer will have a very different feel to it. In comes very light blues, distressed, pale washes, rips and frays. Look out for fitted, panelled denim dresses as seen at Chanel, and denim waistcoats and bootflares ala D & G.
Coming soon to Diva: Diesel denim dress and French Connection dungaree style dress.
FLORAL PRINTS
Floral will be massive this Spring/Summer-dresses, skirts and tops in pretty floaty fabrics with everything from delicate daisies to exotic hibiscus. The look is incredibly feminine and dainty whereas Stella McCartney opts for strong, energetic and striking prints.
GLOBAL INSPIRATION
African prints, ethnic scarves, fringes, Japanese kimonos and Indian saris-more is more when it comes to globally inspired fashion this Spring/Summer. Decorative looks have been collected from far and wide by designers-Jean Paul Gaultier has interpreted the sari in many different ways using amazing fabrics and colours for this season’s Hermes collection.
Coming soon to Diva: Miss Sixty metallic beaded dress, Great Plains Grecian tops and dresses, Nougat kaftans.
SPOTS, STARS AND STRIPES
You’ve probably already noticed the stripes appearing in the high street windows and are wondering whether to invest in it. Go for it-stripes are a key trend along with spots and stars. Polka dots and large spots on all sorts of pieces will be everywhere. Look out for stripey rugby style dresses, spotty silk blouses, and star spangled scarves.
Coming soon to Diva: French Connection striped t-shirts, Diesel stripey vests and strapless dresses, Ted Baker dotty blouses and to-die-for Anglomania supersized spot Sunday dress.
BOUDOIR
When we heard about the new lingerie looks coming in, we were a bit confused here at Diva. Were we talking about underwear or outerwear here? Then the beautiful new silk pieces from Ted Baker began to arrive and all became clear. We are going to be wearing silk dressing gown style dresses, lovely ruffled silk tops in cream and pastels and negligee tunics. It’s a gorgeous floaty look, sexy and feminine as seen at Stella McCartney and Dior by John Galliano.
Coming soon to Diva: Ted Baker cream silk dresses and ruffled blouses, French Connection silk pyjama style shirt dress.
We have a good sized section of new pieces already out for your perusal in Diva Torquay, so pop in and have a look. See you soon Karen, Kaori, George, Mel and Sam.
