Can’t Keep Up With The Heat
Last week I wrote a little piece ‘Spring is in the air’. This week that already seems to be very outdated news indeed. Spring seems to have come and gone again in the space of a couple of weeks. Whilst last week I was worried about getting my white legs out for airing, this week it is just impossible to keep them hidden away, white or not.
Whilst last week I did a check of my wardrobe as I realised that once the winter-warmers were put away there wasn’t quite enough choice for lovely spring-days, this week I am digging my summer-wardrobe out faster than the speed of light.
It is absolutely lovely to wake up to crisp & clear mornings and see the day develop into a hot and sunny day whilst you are having breakfast and getting the day’s chores out of the way, however it has made my wardrobe situation even worse.
Despite very hot days it is still a bit too early to get your most summery dresses out (…or could possibly be done with leggings and little cardi) and unless your in a secluded spot, away from the rest of the population, tucked away in a corner of your garden where wind can’t even reach you it is far too early to put a bikini on. (Thank God for that as still have not started getting-fit-for-summer-regime or waxed my bikini-line…)
So how do you tackle this spring heatwave? Well, start by checking out our ‘Get the Look’ page for a few ideas. The current outfits are put together by Sarah, my sister-in-law. Another fashionista of the family (me not being the ‘other’ one but my mother-in-law). I especially love the one with the Diesel-shorts if you’ve got legs and confidence to pull it off. The stripy Burberry silk-top is such a fab little piece.
Personally, if I was to choose an outfit to wear today it would probably be the French Connection boyfriend jeans. Mixed with linen they are really light and could be turned up for a cropped look when you get hot.
Naturally, a pair of Converse. The cream ones. Love’em.
I absolutely adore the little checked boob-tube by Firetrap. It is really cute. (For even hotter days, they do a great dress in the same fabric)
And for early mornings, shady areas or when your shoulders have got sunburnt, I would grab the Thomas Burberry cream knit v-neck jumper to cover up. Quite a simple look but that is the way I like it.
So get your summer wardrobe sorted now. Don’t wait until the summer is well and truly here and every must-have piece in your size is sold out. Get it now and you will have more time to enjoy the sun later.
