If you have read my blog on 29th January we would have established what stipulates a grown-up and what grown-up fashion is. Let’s take it a step further and look at it from a different angel; grown-up shopping.
I am sure I am not alone at having made quite a few fashion faux-pas and shopping-disasters wasting money which already were in short supply in my younger years. Actually saying that, my disposable income was probably higher at the time with only myself to look after and support, no mortgage, no children and with a slightly less expensive taste when it comes to life’s temptations and pleasures.
I have grown up since… well, a bit anyway. At least I look a bit older (not sure that is a good thing), feel a bit wiser and a bit smarter when I shop. The adrenalin still pumps and my heart beats faster after a good retail or online-session, that will probably never change, but I shop differently.
The trick is to being able to spot and pick out key-pieces from each shop, label and collection. Something which Angela Hosie, our buyer and co-owner, is very good at. It’s knowing what each label stands for and does well.
This is our philosophy at getmyfashion.com. We will be offering key-pieces from every label, hence why you will never see a full collection from any label on our website. We will pick the good bits only, the ‘cream of the cake’.
To give you a few examples; for our basic tops, t-shirts and plain jeans you can’t find much better fits, styles and quality at a better price than Great Plains. French Connection offers a fairly cutting edge range, quite sophisticated and grown-up at a fraction of the price compared to a similar designer-piece. Farhi does great knitwear and dressy pieces, Sandwich is also good with the needles and Thomas Burberry beats most with their coats every time, see the new fabulous mac just out.
If you are familiar with our shops, you probably know how we work and how it works for a look and for you.
