Grown-Up Fashion. What Does It Mean?
Wednesday, January 31st, 2007If you read my column ‘The countdown is on for the new season’s women’s clothing’ posted on Friday 26th January you would have read that at getmyfashion.com we are trying to put together a collection of more grown-up and mature fashion. So what do we mean by ‘grown-up fashion’?
Firstly, do we need to establish when you are classified as a grown-up and therefore qualify to wear grown-up fashion???
Does grown-up sound old and boring to you? Well, in some ways it does to me but I do feel like a grown-up or rather I am a grown-up, compared to the way I remember myself in my twenties when I only thought that I was a grown-up. I do not feel old though and I am not old so we can therefore straight away establish that it is possible to be young and grown-up at the same time. I think it is fair to say that being grown-up is to do with behaviour more so than age. As we all know some people never grow up… no names mentioned.
I am probably becoming quite philosophical here which is certainly not what I am meant to write about so let’s get back to the subject of fashion.
We want women to be women no matter the age. We love to dress women and make the most of what and who we are. Whether you are a single girl about town or a two-some, a career-woman, a working-girl, a mother, home-maker, a lady-who-lunches or you might be a woman in your prime… 40, 50, 60, working or not, we hope that we will have something on this site that takes your fancy.
By grown-up fashion, we mean to dress you with style, casual or smart, for everyday-wear or a special occasion, the girlie look, the boyish look or the ultimately womanly look. It may be fitted or loose, earthy colours or bright patterns, a younger look, a more mature look or just about anything that Angela, when buying, thinks will be a right addition to our collection and right for you, the grown-up woman.
If you are looking for a skimpy look and tops with bare midriffs, then we are not the site for you. Neither will you find Amplified t-shirts or similar things on this website.
Our aim is to style you. Help you to look your best. Check our ‘keylooks’-section for the latest looks and styles as put together by Angela Hosie. What she doesn’t know is not worth knowing, trust me. She has a great eye for putting outfits together. Follow her advice and you will not go wrong. Or just follow your instinct and pick whatever grabs you.
So what is grown-up fashion? Well, if you haven’t got it by now you are probably not a grown-up. Simply a stylish dress-sense for any occasion. Perhaps a more subtle look compared to the way you dress when you are 18. Just click and you will see exactly what we mean.
We really hope that you will enjoy getting to know us and shop with us.
