Dressing For Work In A Heat Wave

Phew! It’s getting hot in here so take off all your… well maybe not! But honestly, what do you wear to work when the temperature soars and we mere mortals can’t take off to the south of France and lounge around in an itsy bitsy bikini all day? Here are five simple rules and examples to help you take the heat off…

1. Natural Fabrics
Keep your all of your fibers natural. Cotton, silk and linen all absorb and release moisture quickly, allowing your skin to ‘breathe’ and thereby keep cool.
E.g. White Wide-legged Linen Trouser, £65 by Noa Noa with the cotton and silk mix Light Blue Temptation Tank, £112 by Odd Molly

‘Odd Molly-fied’ in Sweden

I have just arrived back from a week in the country of Odd Molly; Sweden, which is also the country where I was born and spent all my childhood until emigrating to the UK. We had a lovely time and it was quite amazing to see the complete Odd Molly spring/summer collection wandering around town on a daily basis. The natives have really taken to Odd Molly and is clearly supporting the nordic folklore inspired designs that the label so beautifully stands for.

We’re at that point in the season where we are running out of sizes in some of our most beautiful pieces – in fact, with some of them we’re down to our last item altogether.

Here’s a last-chance list for you – a piece per size – but I have to warn you, if you fancy any of these gems, you’d better hot foot it to the store or the computer asap.

Size 6- Dark Wash Slim Fit Jean by French Connection, price £69.00
Fab jeans, great cut on the derriere and look good rolled up too! (…p.s. we do have other sizes in a lighter wash still available)

Saint Tropez Gets Versatile

This morning was gorgeous. This afternoon is… well let’s just say that it’s a completely different story. And if you guys are anything like me, then you’re probably finding that the weather is playing havoc with your summer wardrobe choices.

The key here is to have some fun with your light summery pieces during these dreary days. Try layering your summer dresses and tunics over dark denim. Long sleeved tee-shirts are a godsend for under-layering – they add interest and warmth to a look without adding too much bulk and loosing your summery edge. A fab alternative to this is a thin white shirt worn unbuttoned to below the neckline of the over-garment (the one by Sandwich is perfect for this).
